Extended Hours Announced for DCS School Registration

While August 7th is the official first day of school for DeSoto County Schools, it is time for parents and guardians to either go their child’s school or come to Central Services to comply with Mississippi law that requires a current “Proof of Residency” to complete the online registration for 2019-2020 school year.

“Schools are open between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.,” said the Director of Management Information Systems Melissa Green. “Our Central Services office (5 East South Street, Hernando) is open from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.”

To accommodate parents, extended registration hours are:

            Central Services:

                        Tuesday, July 23, 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

                        Thursday, July 25, 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

                        Saturday, July 27, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

                        Monday, July 29, 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

                        Thursday, August 1, 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Southaven and Southaven feeder schools in Southaven High Gymnasium:

                        Tuesday, July 23, 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.

                        Thursday, July 25, 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Olive Branch and Olive Branch feeder schools in Olive Branch Middle School Gymnasium:

                        Thursday, July 18, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

“Currently, at most places there are no lines and we have computers and personnel to help parents with registration,” Green said. “Historically, lines get longer as we approach the beginning of school. Lines can be avoided if they will come now. After parents complete their online registration, the required documents to prove residency are a mortgage or lease document, current utility bill and/or car tag registration.”
