Family Guide for Student Success The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) developed family guides to assist with grade-level at home strategies and activities that support both student and parent understanding of the English language arts and mathematics standards. Parents can use the activity booklets at home to support what their children are learning in the classroom.

with the Mississippi College- and Career Readiness Standards The purpose of these documents is to provide teachers with a deeper understanding of the Standards as you plan for classroom instruction.
Based on the 2016 Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards, these documents provide a close analysis of the requirements for student mastery. Because of the rigor and depth of the Standards, scaffolding instruction to meet the needs of all learners is essential. Kindergarten Scaffolding Mississippi Literacy Based Promotion Act The 2013 legislative session the Literacy Based Promotion Act, the primary goal is to create proficient readers by the third grade. This law requires all third graders to pass the Mississippi or they will not be promoted to the fourth grade unless the student meets the good cause exemption criteria.
